Creative Commons: A bloggers goldmine

From  Skitterphoto.com  under CC license Creative Commons is one of the best innovations to grow out of global interconnectivity. Under copyright law, rights to use copyrighted materials are granted on a one-by-one basis. Traditional copyright law does not provide a practical way to permit wide-ranging use of copyrighted work. Creative Commons stepped in to fill this gap. Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that has developed a set of off-the-shelf licenses for use by copyright holders who wish to make their work widely available for limited or unlimited purposes. To quote the Creative Commons website, “Our tools give everyone from individual creators to large companies and institutions a simple, standardized way to grant copyright permissions to their creative work.” There are currently six basic Creative Commons licenses, each with its own icon, set of rights, and limitations. Returning to the Wild West

I had taken a break from gaming and Red Dead redemption II until recently. I hadn’t played online because they hadn’t added anything new to keep me playing and the Capitale addition was a waste of time. There isn’t anything new added since I last went online but I missed the world honestly. So I’ve been doing call to arms mission’s some blood money mission’s and the usual wild westing around the Wild West. Okay the Capitale thing is really such useless addition it’s another form of currency making that four how in total online. You built the best game ever and you leave it out to die a drawn out death instead of making some easy and fun new ways to keep us playing. Why don’t Rockstar allow you to rob banks and trains? Why can’t I make money as a criminal with me and my posse setting up bank heists and robberies with a GOOD payout. I’d love t...

Three Ways to Read Fanfiction on your Kindle Paperwhite

For all you rebellious teens out there (haha totally not me), here are three ways you can read fanfiction on your Amazon Kindle.  1. Experimental Browser If you’ve gotten the latest Kindle update, it’s called “Web Browser” now, but it works the same way.  So, credit to my older sibling on this one. Basically there’s a web browser built in to your Kindle–it’s meant for things like hotel Wi-Fi, where you have to enter your room number or whatever. Obviously you need Wi-Fi to operate the browser, but we’ve learned a few tricks.  First, open a fanfiction site. On my kindle, Wattpad and Tumblr don’t work, but FanFiction.net and Ao3 work perfectly–well, Ao3 works perfectly, FF.net is a little rocky.  Tricks for FanFiction.net If you’re dedicated enough, you can edit the URL to go to the next chapter of your fic, which is a LOT easier than trying to click the little buttons. You can do the same with fandoms, but it’s a little harder. This goes for both FF.net an...
