23/04/20 – The Woods
The sun was absolutely glorious, so we decided to take a trip down the woods, Riley, Amy and his mom Sally. Armed with the trusty Canon, a Spirit of Cuba churchil from Alec Bradley, we set off to explore the Fenspool woodlands and see how the landscape had changed since we were last here a year ago.

I let Riley lead the way, which depending on which stance you take, could be viewed as either; An opportunity for exploration and adventure, or, excessive traversing steps and trails in the wrong direction. After numerous exclamations of “lets go to the willy tree!” (Aptly named for a phalic hieroglyphic symbol spraypainted onto the trunk) I comandeered the hike and set us back on course for the swamp.
Now, as far as swamps go this was more of a tepid pool of boglike intent. A trail leads off the main path, down a series of steps and opens up onto a narrow track with a little wooden bridge over a dried up stream. I did not think to take any pictures as we walked down, only after Riley and I had begun the process of getting the stream flowing again.

We followed this stream down, water gushing past and clearing the route of stranded debris from nights and gatherings long since forgotten.

Time had slipped away and we were beginning to lose light. We decided to call it a day and head home, intent on returning soon to continue our work clearing this swamp and trail. Once the water levels had dropped suitably we could start the job of moving all the rubbish from its banks.
